I've made several quilts using the Warm & Natural batting, and with a sheet and blanket under the quilt I've been warm on cold NH nights.

I was also thinking of using for the backing fleece and batting of some kind, but didn't know how that would work using qayg..and if there would be a big seam and would be hard to join the sections together.

Does anyone know how to make this quilt warmer and still be able to do the fm quilting with qayg sections..what kind of batting and backing would you use to make a warm quilt... Thank you
use wool batting…...

I just finished a QAYG using fleece for the backing. Since I was using up my stash I cut the fleece into 13" squares and used the string blocks I made using an old sheet for the backing on the squares. This quilt turned out weighing 8 lbs. My niece says it really keeps them warm.

Completely agree. I have a dual heated mattress pad and a light weight all down (no feathers) blanket on my bed. This winter has been long and cold but I have been .... snug as a bug in a 'warm' rug.

If you want a warm quilt, wool batting is the way to go Its a bit pricey, but makes an awfully nice quilt
