Default How many quilt blocks are in a bag of strings?

I have been making many string quilts lately and have been gifted with bags of strings from a few of my guild members.

As I sorted them by colors into smaller bags, I came across quite a large number of floral , pastel and neutral strings that appeared to have been cut together. They were stacked neatly and I have enough to pack a medium sized zip lock bag full.

My challenge for myself is to sew these into 6 1/2 inch string blocks. I will then decide how to set them once I see how many I end up with.

Here they are out of the bag and in a box lid.

It will be interesting to see how many blocks are actually in this bag.

Only quilters wonder about things like this....but I know I am not the only one!

I will guess about 3 quilts. Scraps go farther than you think. That is why my scrap box is never empty.....I can't seem to use them all.

Looks like a real fun challenge. Are you using paper backing or some sort of light fabric like muslin for your foundation?
Just curious as I am going thru my scraps and can't decide if I want to do paper or muslin. If I use muslin, will I still use a light batting? Sounds like you have made many string quilts so you may have some good advice for me.
