I totally agree! Really need to do something in there so I can find projects back. I have purchased fabrics & printed patterns that both need to find homes.

Everyday - - I give it a clean sweep with a glance.

Usually do a halfway decent clean up between projects so I can cleanse the palette, so to speak. But a real, total clean up when we're having guests. My sewing room is both ends of the family room downstairs. I cut at the bar area on one end, and sew and press at the other end.

This is me, also. (sigh)

GramE , love your answer. That is why I only clean , like sweep and put away after a project. If I clean the whole room I forget where I put things!

It has always bothered me that we make such beauty in total chaos. I guess the beauty can only be truly appreciated in someone else's home... At least in my imagination. I always imagine that the quilts I give away are displayed in a clean house.

I vacuum several days a week because of the dog hair. Dusting about once a week. Stacks of fabric get moved around until the quilt is finished and then put away. Sewing machines get cleaned out at every bobbin change. I think if I had more space, every surface would be "occupied."

After each completed project I put away all my scraps, pattern, threads, etc. that were used for it & clean up my sewing table. I don't do a complete sewing room clean at that time. The complete clean will come if company is coming over.

I clean when I can't find something I am looking for. I feel it is Gods way of saying it is bad enough now do something about it. I look at it as a treasure hunt because I usually find stuff I have forgotten or misplaced. Only problem I find when I clean it ends us oozing out in the hall and down to the dining room at the end of the hall.
I usually tell friends that if they don't hear from me in a few days come dig me out and save my life. My son says the room is getting smaller it is filling in from the walls in and he is not sure what color the carpet is. Just kidding. well maybe. But I have fun and sew every day.
