I started quilting in the mid '80's. I'm sure I have some fabrics from back then....someplace!

That would be wonderful. I appreciate it. I wouldn't even know how or where to start looking.

I did a search on the fabric and it is between 1955 and 1960's. The fabric used was printed on rayon and it was more then likely was part of a kit were they stitched around the design and used it to decorate the walls or put them in a frame. When I first looked at the picture it looked like a tapstry to me.

OK ... there's some cheating going on here     ... let's clarify by saying fabric that you purchased for your sewing or quilting ... that should even the playing field a bit ....

but be sure to tell us about all your older "inherited" fabrics. It is truly fascinating to read all about the much older things. You think they would deteriorate due to dry rot ...

Thank you. Actually is a piece of upholestery fabric. One of my great aunts worked in an upholestery factory and she gave a bunch to my grandparents to cover a couch and that piece is what was left over. Not sure I ever saw the couch. But that piece was always there no matter where they lived.

My favorites are some barkcloths that I collected to make into pillows and then could not bear to cut them. They are so pretty and I love the history attached.

What is a barkcloth? And can you give some of the history of behind them?

Well if it has to be what I purchased then I would have to say I have pieces that are no more then 15 years old. Lol

Still waiting to be used is some beautiful wool I bought in Ireland the summer of 1977. That's my oldest. Quilting fabric that I've purchased new, probably about 20 years. I also have some feedsacks that go back 50 or 60 years.
