Default How would you quilt these

    Hello everyone,
These are my two latest quilts. The first one is my son's wedding quilt, the second one is my nephew's blue, black, and gray quilt(thank you very much to the ladies on this board who sent me gray material so I could make this quilt, I think it turned out beautiful)l. I don't care for all over patterns, I would like a more customized look. I can do free hand quilting(not an expert at it though).

Very pretty, great colors. I mostly do a large stipple - meander. I love the looks and love doing it. Others will have better ideas.

Beautiful quilts! If you go to Google and search images for the quilt patterns, you will get some ideas. For the Jewel Box Quit, many had allover patterns or stitch in the ditch, but I found one link that has a simple looking FMQ pattern.

What is the name of the other pattern?

    Both are lovely!!

    For the Jewel Box ...
My first thought was thinking a motif (flower, star, whatever) in the center square, SITD around the border diamonds and do a small stipple (or other dense quilting such as pebbles, or ripples) in the dark part to make the colored sections stand out. But I also like the pattern that Katier pointed out for the jewel box.

    For the other one ...
I'm not getting as clear of a picture in my head ... I'm seeing feathers in the light areas surrounding the center square but not sure how .. wish I could be of more help. I really like this one, it sparkles!!

The blue and gray quilt pattern is from the book String Fling by Bonnie Hunter pattern is called Jamestown Landing. I would recommend the pattern and the book it has 12 other patterns in it. This one was really fun to see the pattern come alive. I have 13 other scrap quilts to make from this book and am looking forward to it.

Thank you Katier I love that, all except for the main part in the main 4 large triangle blocks that meet. Was wanting to do more if a wedding type theme for them. But, I love all the rest. I have book marked it for further reference.
