Default How would you quilt this top

Here's a quilt top I just finished and will be sending to a custom quilter. It is a 31"x66" wall hanging for the railing above my living room.

So far I thought to have the figures in the 2 panels outlined and possibly the star beams enhanced. I thought some shiny rayon gold thread would look good. An edge to edge motif in the pieced center was an idea as well. Can anyone give me any advice? Especially for the scroll pattern in the two panels and the border. Thank you in advance.

I have no advice, but I just want to say it's lovely! I'm sure your quilter will have ideas if asked.

Lovely wall hanging. I would talk it over with your quilter. They should have some suggestions.

That's gorgeous! I agree, discuss it with the quilter to come up with the best possibilities. I'd probably go with what you described for the side pieces, but try to highlight the star shape in the center, rather than using an all-over design there.

I see a lot of outline quilting and follow the pattern in the panels and the blocks. The HST shapes in the center block has room for some lovely pointsetteas, snowflake, or star quilting as does the outside border.

For the scroll area, just outline the area and leave the scroll itself alone. The border would be nice with stars in it.

I like the ideas previously expressed, especially the one you have about enhancing the star! I, too, would leave the scroll work around the pictures as they are. As to the center panel, I would probably simply do stitch in the ditch so that the quilting does not detract from all else going on. The border--depends on how wide it is. Does it really need quilting? Perhaps just something simple so that it doesn't detract from the beautiful blocks. Maybe something as easy as straight line stitching and inch or so from the edges of the border fabric. What kind of frame would you use, if it were being put into a traditional picture frame?
