What type of thread would you recommend that I use in my Avante. Don't call the quilt police on me, but I throw ALL of my quilts in a warm washer after finishing to give them that old quilty look. Does poly thread have the same look? I am currently using 100% cotton and it has a tendency to break while quilting. I always thought that if you use 100% cotton fabrics that you should use 100% cotton thread.

I have a different machine but usually use cotton wrapped poly, I don't expect my quilts to be around for 100+ yrs , I too find the all cotton breaks too easily when quilting with it

Thanks! I will give it a try! Nothing more frustrating than getting "in the zone" then having to step out of it when the thread pops. What size needle do you you use? I normally use Warm and Natural batting.

I have a different long arm. But i use king tut & bottom line for the bobbin. Don't have any thread breakage.

I have the HQ16, use size 16 needle, make sure it's at 6:00, use so fine in the bobbin, and King Tut on top, no problems with breakage.

Why would the quilt police mind you washing your quilt? Most of us here wash ours before we give them away.

I have an Avante also - I use cotton because that is my preference - usually Signature thread or King Tut or Coats and Clarks - 100% cotton - I don't have problems with threads breaking - perhaps you have a tension problem?

It seems like every 15 minutes the thread breaks. It almost looks like it is shredding. What size needle do you use for 100% cotton thread?
