I cut on my kitchen island that is counter height. I have several large mats that I use on it & I am 5' 2 1/2". Works for me.

i too find the kitchen counter [the island area is usually nice and clean :-) ] i have a sewing table that my hubby built to my height [5'3"] but in current home have no where to set it up. over the dining table is a killer...so cutting done at counter and then i also don't have to clean off the current sewing mess on table!!! ...unless we're gonna have company of course...tv trays- what a clever invention for quilters/sewers!! lollol

I patiently waited until Joann's put their cutting table on sale, found my 40% off coupon and bought one. Has saved my back so many, many times!

The bed risers work really well.

Your kitchen counter might be a better height to use for a cutting area. I'm 5'!0" and that is much better for me.

I have a bar area with bars stools 24 inches high and can walk around it. It is the same height as my kitchen counters. It is a live saver. I know what you mean. I hope you figure out a better way.
