at home I have a table that hubby made me also,
but I am at my son's for the winter and I use the island in the kitchen...
it is an extension of the countertops and is a perfect height...
sure helps with the back.........

Before I moved to a one bedroom apartment, I had a wonderful drop-leaf table and cutting mat that I purchased at JoAnn’s (on sale of course). I used it for cutting and layering small quilts. I really miss it. Now I have a 4’ folding table. Need to get some pvc pipe to raise it to a better height. Also gave up a nice kitchen table in order to have room for my “sewing studio”. On the plus side, not as much house to clean, more time to quilt! Also have two nice closets. Use one for fabric stash.

Make sure you have a chair that you seat comfortable and you can cut awhile. Although i don't use the rotary cutter. It is harder to cut. I use cutting blocks or rulers and trace with fabric pencil and cut with sizzors.

Dear Pioneerlady, you must be really young. I can't even get down on the floor let alone do all that there. If I happen to fall down there it is even harder to get up than to get down. How on earth do you do it?
