I bought myself a present!!!

Thanks for the info tessagin. I'm planning to go 'home' (a 3 hour flight) next spring, for a sisters' quilt retreat. I may look for a sturdy carry-on that will accommodate the machine and styrofoam.

You will never guess what you inspired me to do today......I read this post and the little man (or lady) on my shoulder told me to go buy myself a NEW sewing machine--and I went in and told my husband what I had in mind for our fun thing to do today. And you know what, he went along with it. I got $300 in cash for my birthday, and it has been sitting hidden away until today.
We went to Bowling Green to a sewing/quilting shop and I came home with a new Janome Sewist. I told the sales lady how much I had to spend and she showed me every machine in the shop in that price range--and showed me one that was $349, of course that turned out to be the one I wanted. I told her she had to talk the husband out of the extra $50--and she did. It was a very fun half hour or so; we all came out happy. She got her sale, I got my brand new sewing machine, and DH didn't have to spend next month's earnings. I have been playing with, and putting it all together all afternoon. I stressed to her that I had to have quiet, and she understood. That is so unusual for a sales person. I really appreciated that.
And, oh yes, I forgot to congratulate the originator of the post. Maybe by now you have finished cleaning, etc. and are playing with your new baby.....don't you just love it?
