I have been doing tube quilting and having trouble getting my triangles to turn out to the size they should. I've watch the tutorial on you tube. My triangles end up being 5 3/4 inch instead of 5 1/2. I have cut the strips to 2 1/2 inch and my seams are correct. Have I done something wrong or is it a case that a 4 1/2 inch strip does not give a 5 1/2 inch triangle? Any help would be appreciated. :( :(

Make sure your 1/4" seam is accurate on your machine. Then check your pressing. Sometimes we lose a little when we don't press those seams really flat. I haven't done the tube quilt in a while, but aren't the strips supposed to be cut 2 1/2" each? Go to the website for Missouri Star Quilt Co. They have the tutorial there.

I think the other thing you want to check is ruler placement for cutting. If I remember correctly the ruler reference point is your stitching line rather than edge of fabric, this could make a difference
