fatquarters i was on a vintage singer machine website and saw this model 127 which yours look very close to.

what do you think? i think the second photo is much closer almost an exact match your "new" machine. maybe it is a model 128. you will not know for sure until someone can look up your serial number.

As unappealing as they are, the light and motor are Singer made parts. Instead of spending a bunch of money on replacements, get a rattle can of Krylon and paint them Gloss Black. Don't get paint in the motor - you'll have to cover the vent holes. If you know someone who does body work they could tape it off for you.

Singer 66 has a different bobbin and the area for putting the bobbin in looks different too.

You lucked out, that machine looks to be in beautiful shape. Looks like it was always loved. I would not like the looks of that motor either, but painted black it probably wouldn't look so "off".

Oooohh! Beautiful. Personally, I would put it on a treadle cabinet and get rid of the motor.

There is a Siinger website where you can put in the serial number and it will tell you the model and the approx. year it was made.

Hancock's is now carrying the singer supplies such as the shuttle bobbins and such for the old machines!

I have one that looks similar to yours but it's 3/4 size and it has a hand crank rather than a motor to make it run!
