Just love the theme, sacrifice for God, country and family. I love all the details, bald eagle flying over the flag-draped casket, the military honors and the mourners in front of the church, the flag waving proudly beside the church.
What a tribute to our service people who give their all for all of us! I also love the cross-hatching that goes right through the autumn maple leaves. What a scene that says so much and is so close to our hearts. I'm sure you won for more than the excellence of your quilting, you touched the hearts of all the judges and I'm sure all people there.

I took a look again today, and have to say it brought tears to my eyes both times. I would encourage you to contact the newspaper in your town and let them do a news story about your quilt, and the award. Not neccessarily to give you the attention, although you deserve the attention (!), but to also spread your message to family members who lost their loved ones, and to wounded veterans and their families. It will let them know you love them and their sacrifice is not forgotten.
