I wouldn't feel foolish about the question as we have all gone thro' this problem. Looking at the pattern my suggestion would be to add a another row of blocks top and side, and then reduce the borders to the size that you want as I think more borders would detract from the lovely blocks.

what do you consider the right size? to me the right size for a queen is 96 x 96. i always add more blocks or half-blocks, especially since this already has a nice border.
