May I double that response and just let you know that you did good in getting the Ruby you are going to love her. And now you will get a lot more done and don't hesitate to take those classes and if you have any questions that your dealer can't answer about the machine know that you can post here. I know that machine very well as I sell them as well.
I have a question already; it's about the software. I know that the current version is 5D but the only price that I've seen for it is around 1500 on eBay. I didn't think to ask the shop how much thiers are. I see different versions of 5D and then of course there are the lower versions as well (4D, etc). I can't afford a lot so I was wondering what a good one is. I have a program at home; cant remember the name of it right now so I'm sure how it will work but it is a cheaper one (around 100). I got the software that came with the ruby that helps it talk to the pc but haven't had time to play (I had to go to work today to pay for this; Ha.) Any advice on the software would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure since it's the latest out it'll be awhile before I can afford the 5D.
There are 3 "levels" if you want to call it that of 5D. Each level is priced differently but which one is for you depends on what you want to do. If you only want to combine designs and add lettering to it on the computer and then send to the machine that is 5D Embroidery. If you want to take clipart or images that are in your computer (kind of like a filled in coloring book page) that is 5D Extra. If you want to take clipart and change the fill pattern and basically do your very unique embroidery designs yourself that is 5D Professional. I will tell you that you really should not buy machines or software for that matter online as you have no support either from a dealer or from Viking. Sometimes with the software the original owner has registered it and the registration is not transferable so that you cannot get support or updates to the software when they are available. My best suggestion is to talk to your dealer for more info. They should be able to demo the software and better explain what each module does and of course give you pricing.
4D software is the previous version of the 5D software. So I definetly would not buy that on line.

It's so exciting. I like quilting because it lets me bring out the creative part of me which doesn't come close to some of the people on here but it makes me happy and the more I see and do the more creative I become. This board really helps with this. Tons of ideas on here.

Thank you so much for the info. I do know to make sure I can get it registered. That is the one thing I really like about the EQ software; you can do any two pcs at a time and if you need to put it onto a different one then you just unregister one of the others; it's a good way to handle things when people upgrade or like me use two different pcs at a time.
