It will be good practice, I am retired so no worries about making another. I do hope they have a baby boy, I know I would feel better about a brown quilt .

This could be the choice of gal in their generation. Hope that does not mean I am getting really old LOL

I've always heard bright colors stimulated a baby's brain and made them learn more.

I had a friend who when I asked about baby room colors.. she said any color that you think of when I say coffee. So browns was here baby color theme. I had never heard of brown for babies. The good part is you have a project ready f the next baby gift occasion.

My manager is the same way but when I made her a baby quilt I used blue, green and yellow. She loves it! So just because the mom may like brown, that doesn't mean she won't appreciate bright colors for the baby.

I can relate - I call my sister 'the beige lady' - very frustrating when I visit her beautiful house and it's ALL BEIGE!!!

Glad you were able to find out her preference prior to giving her a quilt. When I make a baby quilt, I talk to the mom and ask what color the nursery is. Then I can decide if I'm going to blend in with or accent the nursery. I should mention that I never make baby quilts that look like a little child's quilt. As of yet, anyways.

Your quilt is just adorable, and you know perhaps, the Mom would love it too. Sometimes even though we are set in our ways about color, sometimes something comes along in another color and we love it. This is such a cute quilt and honestly I just can't see an all brown quilt for a baby. How boring!!!! And the quilt is for the baby, not the Mom, and we all know that babies like BRIGHT things not dull boring colors. Just my 2 cents worth.

Like the others have said at least you have a heads up for the next time.

For all who desire to make a bright colored or child prints quilt for monochromatic moms you say "this is a floor quilt for tummy time it is designed to stimulate the baby's cognitive development".

Babies like color...it's for the baby, not the mom!
