My son wants a quilt. He has these 2 colors in mind.. A dk gray & maroon. Anyone have a suggestion for a background fabric. I was thinking a marble lt gray. And also what pattern, would you think. Thanks for any help/suggestion. Don-isewman

Have you thought of a Double Irish Chain maybe with a light gray background?? Good Luck Don. Hope you are keeping warm. I made this design with 2" finished squares.

maniacquilter2 ...your quilt design is gorgeous!i want to make a quilt for my son too, his fave colors are black & white. so was thinking black and gray ...i've made several irish chain quilts and i didn't even think of it for my son. the colors you used would make a stunning quilt!

That's nice! A log cabin would be a good choice also.

Here are two choices for borders Don. I am a visual person so that is why I love EQ7. This quilt has 7 blocks across and 9 blocks down. It has a floating background border of 2" finished and an outside finished border of 7" so the quilt should be approximately 89x109. Good Luck Don

Since you'll have two dark colors maybe a cream color, something lighter but still having the maroon and dk gray as the feature.

Love your idea of the marbled lighter gray with the dark gray and maroon Don. The Irish chain is very masculine and clean looking in this color scheme, a chevron pattern would also look great in this color scheme. Whatever you decide your son is going to treasure it!

Eleanor Burns Day and Night book makes a great two color star quilt. I've made it in red/blue, maroon/tan and blue/gold. It's my go to "team" colors pattern.
