I fiddled around with the triangles a little bit more and figured it out. I basically had to layer the triangles (right sides together) perfectly on top of each other with the grain edges on the outside. I sewed several together and ended up with my 1/4" of extra fabric above each point. :XD: Thank you, everybody, for your help. I think the instructions for this pattern could have been better written (a drawing would have been helpful), but I did figure it out.

You might find that if you press the seams open it's easier to line them up. It also makes the centre point lie flatter when you have 6 sets of seams meeting in the middle. I do this when making the one block wonder quilts. I think I've got a photo somewhere that may help...

Can't help the OP but just want to say that I love your triangles! Will you sew them together so we have doggie faces all around?

Thanks, yes it did. It was a quilt I made for a friend over a year ago. She has it as a snuggle quilt on her sofa as she is a dog breeder. It's washed and washed and is now lovely and soft! It's posted here on the board under One Block Woofers. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-23403-1.htm

How beautiful. I love the way you used the fabric.

Its easy to do this and face it I am sure most of us tend to tlearn the hard way. When you practice in the seam where the tip meets the other 2 pieces there should be a x and you sew across so as Not to cut the tip off. Please do not ask me how many years it took me to learn this!! Marvel Best of Luck.
