I just did a Linus quilt using large 5"squares sewn into 4 patches with sashing around each block. The twist was that there were 9 1/2" blocks thrown in with large flowers fused and then topstitched to keep them secure. The idea came from a Henry Glass pattern I found on the internet called "Sugar Blossoms". They used flowery fabrics and I used juvenile prints. It looks complicated, but I got a 45" X 54" cut out, sewn and quilted in a week!

How about a windowpane quilt? Cut 4" squares (or larger) of your favorite fabric and sash with a contrasting color. Or you can make it scrappy by cutting differently colored squares.

friend was needing a quilt in a hurry so she just enlarged a block pattern that she liked (hers was a basket set on points) and sewed big pieces together and made big blocks. Set block pattern in the center which was a heart pattern. She will embroider the recipients' names in the heart block. Wide borders so it goes faster.

They are also very quick to make. I can make enough for a quilt in less than a day using precut square that I have by the dozens.

I make pinwheels using two equal pieces of fabric right sides together. Sew a quarter inch around the outside of the squares making sure they are right sides together. When that's done, cut them on both diagonals. You will then have 4 pieces. Press them flat and sew them back together. You will have two halves of the pinwheel block and once you sew the two halve together you will have one complete pinwheel. It's easy, but may sound complicated. The beauty of this method is that there are no tiny triangles to cut out. I did 17 of them at our sewing bee last month. I already had 5" squares cut out and just got right down to sewing.

My sister made a queen size in 2 days.
