I love all the colors. I would do light, dark for effect. Do you see how the eye goes towards the darker pink and blue, so if you even it out as far as color it would look great, other that than that, very nice block.

For me, I think it depends on the look you want.
1. If going for the mixed look, then I would mix in many colors and not just the pinks and a couple blues. The blues look out of place .
2. I think it is a very attractive block if you just go with alternating the pinks: pink background/white flowers, white background/pink flowers, etc. It has that delicate soft look with not a lot of contrast. You can do that with each block in a different color scheme.
3. For high contrast, then go with something more along the lines of the mauve and blue combination, but then do that with each square for more consistency. You can use lots of different combinations.
For me, and IMHO, what throws things off, is when it's all combined in one block and I can't read what the intention is.

I quoted a reply that it IS too busy. I like the fabric. The blue pieces draw my eye down to the lower left. They almost seem like they don't belong there. It throws the balance off. I love the block! Maybe some more blue on top right? The contrast would help the fabric stand out.

I like the florals, but I think you either need to have the same number of blues as pinks or just pinks. My other thought was, if you only use two blues, make them opposite each other. I love that pattern.

I was thinking of making a 4 block by 4 block baby girl quilt. Thanks!
