Default I see an addiction forming...

Well, I got my new sewing machine in, and though I've yet to fire it up (or even take it out of the box-SELF CONTROL!! LOL) I've started on my first project. I also ordered a small cutting board and rotary cutter. (As for the cutter, all I can say is - WOW! Where has this been all my life??)

I spent most of the evening cutting the pieces for my first quilt, and matching them up into blocks. As much as I want to move forward, I am stopping here. It's after midnight, the dogs are hungry, and I still have to test-sew on the machine before I even BEGIN to get involved in this! LOL.

This will be a quilt for my niece; she is the first girl in this generation, as she has a brother, and two male cousins, as well as 3 male second cousins! (needless to say she's spoiled!) She was born this past March, so I'm making her a pink and green quilt for her first Christmas. I also have a new nephew born at the end of August, so I need to get cracking and make a blue one too!

Wish me luck! (Here's the cut pieces matched up in their blocks.)

Oh, for sure! I'm generally not very patient with new projects, but I'm forcing myself to be patient and do everything RIGHT with this quilt. No shortcuts, no rushing, no guesswork or "good-enough's" LOL! I'll tell ya, it's taking all the self-control I've got!

I'll probably post a few more WIP pics along the way.

LoupEsprit... what you're doing is called "savoring".
Taking time to enjoy each step of the process is a good thing.

WOW - you have a great eye for fabric/color - have you sewn garments before or had any sewing experience before?

I love your fabrics! Hearts, dots, pink, green ... as far as I'm concerned you are off to a wonderful start.
