Quilters borrowed the word. Put it in your dictionary the next

Was a minister's wife for 43 years until DH passed away. I know from experience that the church is full of sinners that need forgiveness. Some for big sins and some for their know-it-all attitude. It is the wise woman who tries to enlighten them, but when they resist just walks away letting them continue to be wrong. The people who matter (those who love to quilt) know what it is called. You did a great job of handling her and the situation. Plus the example you set for the other ladies in the group (who are more than likely tired of her attitude also.) Another star on your crown in Heaven!

BTW my dear grandmother, who taught me to quilt, always called it sashing. She learned from her mother. Grandma was born in 1882 so the use of sashing for quilting has been around for more years than this wannabe. So there!!!

Are sashing and lattice the same thing? Just wondering if there's a difference in case I bump into this woman.

Sashing is what we call it. The woman said that sashing made her think of satin? Maybe she's thinking of a stin sash for Miss America. LOL

There must be one in every family, because I have a sister like that too. Just can't live up to her standards or perfections, so she disclaimed me as her sister. Doesn't want me in her life at all. So sad!!!!

OMG, I needed some the other night. At our women's meeting we were discussing the quilt I'm working on--queen snowball pattern. One gal doesn't hear well. She knows she doesn't hear well. Anyway we offer first, second and third place prizes for our raffle. I told them we had a personal sized patriotic quilt for one of the other prizes and a food basket for the third prize. (most members don't quilt). Anyway, said hard of hearing woman cut loose on me for cheating those who spend good money buying tickets because I was not offerning a "standard" sized quilt. I asked her what size she wanted the quilt to be and she kept yelling that it needed to be standard sized. I told her she was going to have to tell me what standard size was. she didn't know but not making a quilt big enough for a double bed was just out of the question and how dare I rob people of their ticket money. Now, bear mind that all this was becasue she had not heard the whole conversation.

God's gonna get her one of these days!
