Check with Kohls clearance, I bought a queen size and twin size set of Cuddle Duds flannel sheets to use as backing and with the clearance price, 30% off coupon, and a bit of Kohls cash, paid just over $35 for both sets. 4 sheets and pillowcases to match, A real deal in my book. Anyway, have you thought of not using the flannel as batting but as the back? Just your quilt top and flannel back, would be very light and would eliminate one layer. That is my plan with my "bargain" sheets. I have done it with fleece as the batting and back in one and worked great but a bit warm and snuggly for your needs.
