    I would put either the Minkee or fleece as a backing. That plus your batting will be toasty warm.

    I know this would be extra expense, but we made my FIL a quilt with fleece backing and also used batting in the middle. I slept under it once and woke up sweating! If you can buy it at Joann with a coupon it shouldn't cost much, and it comes in 60" width.
