Was considering going thru my Carol Doak book and look for a variety of pp blocks. Then adding a pop within each block. What do you think of that idea? I Have a piece of black bkgrd with sparkly gold butterflies that I may be able to fussy cut for my extra fabric.

Mckwilter, if you use this challenge I would suggest that you specify a color family or just batiks for your fabric pieces. I could see this being a jumbled up mess if each person brought anything. Glad we were instructed to only use bl/wh pieces.

What a challenge. sounds like I would be lost too. I wrote down the amount of the 7 different fabrics each person has at the end of the exchange and if I come up with something I'll let you know. I'll be watching this topic for sure

Google images for b/w quilts. Should get lots of inspiration. I like bright pink or lime green to contrast. Can't wait to see yours.

GOOD LUCK !!! I first thought of red....but Ifstamper's idea of a bright pink might be good too.....I think i would stay with "hot" colors to go with the black and whites......as for pattern....????? Yikes....but something that spiraled out.....from the smaller piece you have as the center......moving outward to the larger pieces with the extra color in between. There are some log cabin variations that would go there...maybe try googling "log cabin variations". Again..GOOD LUCK !!!

I saw a lovely one recently with teal as the accent color with black and white.

Go to Google images or Bing images and search for One Yard quilt challenge. There were lots of ideas out there. Maybe one of them will inspire you.

How about a small bag or a mug rug? Maybe an applique wall hanging, a house, a piano, a mouse, or a cat applique. Or a bird.. birds sing and the musical fabric just brings songs and joyful noise to mind.
