ideas for teachers gifts for christmas

I can't remember where I got the idea from (I know I didn't come up with this) but I've seen little bread quilts that take a 15 or 16 inch block and make it into a small quilt (using low-loft batting of course) that you can used to keep bread warm in a basket on the dinner table. That might be nice. I thought the idea was unique anyway wherever it was that I saw it.

2ME: Thank you for the wonderful Bread Quilt idea. I think I'll go find a neat bread basket and make the quilt for it for a hostess gift for my DS who is hostessing Thanksgiving next week. Love the idea. Thank you.

Glad everyone liked the bread quilt idea. I made one for someone and it turned out cute. It takes hardly any time. When I made mine I actually used two stray blocks I had already done so it was just a matter of quilting them together and since they were small I could do some great stuff even on my regular machine. Feathers, be sure to post pictures of your hostess gift when you are done. I'd love to see it.

2Me: I have some orphan blocks sitting here that I planned to use for the bag...as you indicated you did. And yes, I will post a picture.
Marge: Thanks for the rice idea, too. That will be perfect. I'll make a rice bag to fit the basket and JOILA! Hostess gift extraordinaire!

I love that rice filled bag idea. How cute to make coordinating sets. Was cleaning up the sewing room this week in case any holiday guests dared to sneak in and found where I got the bread quilt idea so I wanted to post it... but can't figure out how to do that. It is in a PDF file with two other project ideas I got from a newsletter. Anyone know how to post a PDF or if it is even possible?
