Beautiful quilt. Thanks for sharing the picture. I was going for something that looked a tad stain glassed and seeing this picture....only makes me want to get my fabric cut and started.

I mix batiks with solids and prints all the time. I think it adds so much interest and enhances the batiks.

I saw a batik quilt in the making this past weekend. The quilter was using Aqua and blue solids as sashings. It was beautiful!

Solid black sets off batiks very well. I would recommend Michael Miller's Jet Black, as it is really deeper and blacker than others. It is usually available from http://www.fabric.com and http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/

I started cutting the fabric last night....I can't wait to start sewing on it. I have a commissioned quilt on the longarm to finish and a large baby quilt after that, then I can start sewing this one for my brother and his wife.

oh yes you can.black is wonderful with batiks and calms the motion down.
