Solid black sets off batiks very well. I would recommend Michael Miller's Jet Black, as it is really deeper and blacker than others. It is usually available from http://www.fabric.com and http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/

I started cutting the fabric last night....I can't wait to start sewing on it. I have a commissioned quilt on the longarm to finish and a large baby quilt after that, then I can start sewing this one for my brother and his wife.
Thanks everyone for the help!
