I often make day trips to Paducah. The bar be que festival is always fun, and of course the museum is a must. When you go to Hancock's of Paducah, make sure you go early in the day!!! Fair warning, they do and will turn the lights off on you at closing time! LOL, I have heard many say that when it is dark in there it is DARK!. Have a great time, I am planning on heading down there again myself in July.

You won't regret going to Hancocks of Paducah. It's a great store. They have anything you want. It's all sorted by manufacturer. You will find everything that is new. It's fun to see an entire line all together since many smaller shops only select certain ones. GO-GO-GO!

I was there in April and would go back in a heartbeat if I could. YES, it's worth it. Some people make the mistake of thinking that Hancocks of Paducah and Hancock Fabric are connected---they aren't. Hancocks of Paducah is BIG. They have a large selection of patterns and fabric. Pricing? About like any other LQS. If you're going to go to Paducah anyway, check out the Quilt In A Day store while you're there, they're actually better priced. There's also, I think, a store just about a block or two NE of QIAD that says their fabric is all $3.99 a yard. I wasn't able to go there though so I don't know what it's like. You might also enjoy going a few blocks to the E of QIAD and look at the hand painted flood wall. At the N. end of the flood wall there's a great seafood restaurant. Then just N. of that is the quilt museum. Plan on spending at least a full day in Paducah, you won't be disappointed.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and most all of the fabric is $8.99 and up a yard.

My older sister was born in Paducah. I was born in Paris, TN right across the state line. I still have relatives in both towns. God, it's beautiful up there. Especially in winter, with all that snow.

We had a nice Hancock store 10 miles away. At the time, there were more "garment-type" fabric and home dec fabrics. The quilting department was developing very well, with even classes being offered. Then one day the store was closed. Done. The 2 Hancocks 30 miles away are not as nice.
