Play with the stitch length and width...it can give sone really plesant stitches
The problem is that we cannot play with the length of these stitches.

I am going to guess that enlarging fancy stitches may be the next selling point on future new sewing machines!

I have a Janome 6600 and can make some adjustments to the size but not large enough to do justice as a quilt stitch - at least not for something more than a wall hanging or table topper.

Some machines do and some don't. Another thing to consider when choosing a new machine.

Same here, I can adjust the size of most of the stitches. It helps to have an open darning foot or something so your needle doesn't run into it.

I have a Babylock Quest ... and am frustrated by the stitches, also. I was very unhappy to find out that the alphabet fonts would only expand to 1/2 inch at the most. Guess I could use them to write a book on my next quilt. I have not found any of the fancy stitches worthy of the price I paid for the machine. I also found out that there is no satin stitch on the Babylock - however you can work around this by using the buttonhole stitch, set very small.

Some of mine can be changed, but not all.

I have a Babylock-Decorator's Choice and I can adjust the decorative stitches.

My machines are the same way and it's so incredibly aggravating. What a waste!
