How about some thing like this. I made this for my son's girls friend. It's a small lap size quilt.

Find the most beautiful colors and make a D9P. Make the backing out of a elegant neutral so when she's older (ie: college), she can just flip it over for a less "girlie" look.

I'm somewhat new here. I assume a 9P means 9 patch, but what is a D9P?

I love all these ideas, but the first block that came to my mind was a very feminine version of a sunbonnet sue my mother made as a pillow for me. She is very Victorian looking, carrying a parasol and all in pink, both like and dark with a rose colored background and lace! I definitely want to see pics on what you end up making when its done!

am currently working on a colonial lady quilt-she looks like sun bonnet sue as her face doesnt show.her gown is off her shoulders and skirt to the ground,a parasol above her head to the left.she is gorgeous and the only fabric i bought new was the sashing as i didnt have the right shade of rose to put it together.she could be done in shades of pink......

I think almost any quilt block with pretty girlie colors, pinks and purples come to mind!
