So happy you get to brighten the world with a barn quilt. I love seeing them. My husband built a custom cabinet shop on our property and just got the siding on the outside of it. There is the perfect spot for a barn quilt on the end facing the driveway. He agrees a barn quilt would be a nice touch for that space. I thought we'd do a Carpenter's Wheel since it's a cabinet shop. Notice my avitar...we have a variation of a Carpenter's Wheel on our bed. Got a theme going here!

This is so cool and it shows us we don't need a barn or a big space at all to enjoy having our own little barn quilt! Congratulations and lucky you J!

On the drive from my house to Lexington,( Ky.) I pass tons. I usually take a photo, even though I have already taken many of each one.

Im going to put one up on my fence someday.

I'm a country gal who now lives in the city! I absolutely love the barn quilts! Wish I could do one on my apartment building......now that would be funny! DO post a photo when your barn quilt is finished.
That is a great present from you DH!

Hey A1penny: why not do a small one and hang it on your apartment door?

I saw some barn quilts in an Iowa shop made of black metal-pattern was cut out to let whatever is behind show.
2 different sizes for sale. They should have a long lifetime, & would really show on a light colored building.
I didn't buy one, but think they are so nice even though no bright colors on it.

Perfect timing, if you could have it done for your quilt show. Good Luck!!
I think it's a version of Ohio Star (shame on me for not remembering the name). There will be a star within a star, and the center of the small star will be a square on-point. It's going on a 22x22' Garage-type building, which is used as a wood shop. We have an overhead door on the right half of the front, and the left half is a blank canvas, except we planted a lilac on the left corner. Before I started quilting, I envisioned painting a sunflower seed packet there, but my DH hates sunflowers, and didn't want me to paint directly on the building (I never thought about putting it on a piece of wood).
