Hi.....please can I put the riots in England into some kind of perspective....yes we have had riots, yes they have been horrid and senseless but they are in a few small areas that as a tourist you probably wouldn't know exsisted.
The news makes it appear that everywhere in the UK is having riots but it is just a few senseless people in small pockets....complete mindless idiots !
I live near Bristol, there was a small riot the other night but tonight apart from a few more police around the shopping centre everything is really normal.
Today I had to go to the East end of London with work,where there has been most of the trouble.... yes,people are abit more wary but we still all sat and ate our lunch at a pavement cafe in the sunshine and I felt safe.......Harriet you will be fine, the NEC where the quilt show is, is way out of Birmingham centre.....it's going to be a great show....have a good flight and see you there.
