I've got some stuff on eBay. I opened a store on there. I haven't gotten the one at home opened, yet. You can see the link in my signature at the bottom, if you want to look at what I've gotten listed so far. I don't have a lot up, yet, though.

Congratulations on the purchase. My suggestions is that be sure to have a phone number and list your hours of operation. Have an answering machine with your hours and days of operation also. Nothing bothers people more than to think you are open and drive all that way and find out you are closed. It's one thing to be in town and another thing to be out in the country 8 miles. I had a cousin who did this (another type of business) and she said a neighbor allowed her to put a sign on their property about 1/2 way to their place giving them directions and advertising the business hours for them.
1. Start out slow and work your way along and see how it grows
2. Be open to suggestions
3. Be organized (or appear to be)

Be friendly and inviting and they will come back
:D :D :D

How?
Thank you,
Deara

Miranda!
Congratulations! Be sure and offer fat quarters...I've been buying them off of ebay bcuz my LQS charges $3 EACH for them. You don't have to cut them ahead of time, just when ordered. Then, after a month, convert them to assorted jelly rolls at $20 bucks a pop! I paid more than that for a blue/yellow jelly roll combo, and they sell fast!

Enough fabric for a quilt kit (baby sized) for $30, with a free pattern...

Just a few suggestions that take time more than money...

Congratulations and the very best of luck. A friend of mine in Nova Scotia goes to a neighbor for fabric, thread, etc. The woman operates out of her house certain days/week but will open if she's there and you call wanting something. So, it can be done. With the eBay thing also - I think it could really work. As for the sheep in the yard, that's good manure, isn't it? Maybe you can bag it and sell to the quilters who also like to garden!
