I purchased the Laurel Burch "Celestial Dreams" panel. All of the "blocks" are out of square and it's very noticeable. I plan on building them out with flying geese; does anyone else have a better idea? (Fons and Porter have a quilt kit of this panel and I planned to make my blocks like theirs).

Unfortunately, this happens a lot with panels. If you wet the fabric and block it, that should help. I had the issue with the cat stripe fabric I used for the borders in my avatar photo. I spent a bit of time blocking the first piece. The next one, I tried wetting it and stretching it a bit with my hands to straighten it out. When it dried, it pretty much stayed in place. So I did the rest that way.

Good advice....some panels are more forgiving than others but they can be a challenge. I love a challenge!

I agree with the comments about panels being out of square. What really bothers me is when a panel has pictures on it that are half an inch taller than they are wide, or with frames that are very narrow. It's as if they have no clue that we will be cutting that thing up and putting it in a quilt.

Wet it and block it. You can tell when you GENTLY pull it into square that each of the blocks are lining up straight.

I 100% agree. get you a padded board and draw some staight lines on it. pin the blocks to it...I mean LOTS of pins. then wet.

My sister wanted a fabric book so I bought it and it was all kinds of wonky....I pined it down sprayed it with water then slapped the iron on it. It worked and I was able to sew everything together without a problem. just a little extra work.

How about doing 'wonky' log cabin effect on the outside of each square, once or a few times, so each would look square inside all the extra [?] logs.
