this shelf is actually 5 units. 3 wide and 2 narrow. the wide ones are the 'billy' shelves and they're great. you can get solid or glass doors for them. the doors, however, cost as much as, or more than, the shelves. i own the 'billy' ones for books with the glass doors to keep out dust and i love them. i don't know anything about the narrow ones, but they are probably the same. there is also a corner unit that matches this, as well as half-height ones. if you have an ikea near you, see them in person first. if you don't, ikea has an online catalogue where you can check out the door prices and sizes. they're not 'real wood' or anything. they're made of pressed wood stuff and have a laminate covering. i wish i had them on every wall in my basement. if you get them, i know you'll love them.
