After lots of heartache with my own Janome 1600DP the dealer loaned me a 1600P til mine gets sorted out...So my question is while I have this machine on my grace frame it seems that the feed dogs are engaged how are they lowered and also I must have a slight tension issue that if you see a skipped stitch then thread breaks where do I start? No loops on underside just seems to skip some stitches then thread breaks! Anyone that could help I would really appreciate it! Thanks Jan

You don't "lower" the feeddogs. You need the other plate to put on. It comes with two so if he didn't give you the one to go "over" the feed dogs, you can't free-motion. Regarding the thread breakage, you probably need to change the needle to the next size up. These are the best answers i can give you. I am a 1600P owner.
