This is like the case of the Three Little Bears. I have cutting mats which are too small, and I have cutting mats which are too big, and I need to make a cutting mat which is J...ust right. It can't be cut with a craft knife, it can't be cut with a rotary cutter, Butcher knife won't work, and I don't want to try the skill saw. I was thinking hot knife, but I dread the smell - an outdoor project for sure.

Any ideas?

I used a pair of old kitchen scissors. It takes awhile because it gets to your fingers but it works. Just cut a little, rest, cut a little, rest.......

Wow, I would think that if you could score it with a cutter that then you might be able to snap it on the score. I'm thinking one of those workshop utility knives or the curved knives I've seen used for drywall.

I have used scissors several times to cut up old mats. It does take time and like she said you need to restyour hand often.

I once read on here about cleaning them or reconditioning them. Do you know how that is done? I always get deep lines on the 9, 18, 27 lines-Imagine that! I do cut one inch off too in order to stop the ditches :) I have never cut one all the way thru yet!

I would like to know if there is any way to flatten one out after it buckles up from being steamed! dont ask :(

Tin snips, they cut anything!! I have as many pairs of them as I do scissors!!

Not asking same problem( the steam/buckling thing) here ,but hope someone has a solution it's my favorite mat too!

DITTO x 2 mats (DUH!!!!!)
I had read somewhere that you could fill up the bathtub with hot water, about 6-8 inches and submerse your mats. Let sit for 2 hrs and then place on towels on a hard, flat surface. Neither of mine will fit in the tub...believe me I tried, but, I would like to know if this works.
