Janome 7770
I may have a chance to buy real cheap. I have been considering the brand new 9400. Does anyone have the Janome 7770 and if so how happy are you. Trying to decide if newer model is worth the extra money. Thanks

How old is the one you are thinking about buying and does it have any warranty? I have the Janome MC 6600P and love it. I did buy it new and when i bought it the dealer told me I could get full value if I wanted to up grade in 6 months. Have you tested the one you are considering?

I have the 7700 and like it a lot, however there are some improvements make in the newer (blue front) 8900 that I believe have also made it into the 9400. I have some of those on my Elna 860 and really like them (quickset bobbin, touch-screen interface, dedicated needle plates instead of the APC one on the 7700, 1/4" piecing stitch).
The things I don't like about the 7700 are the APC needle plate, which is a bit of a weak link with the spring mechanism, and unless you have the AcuFeed feet on, it really has a difficult time going over thicker seams. I'm finding this with Leah Day's current BOM - I was piecing using the 1/4 clearview foot and it was giving me fits trying to go over multiple seams.
I'd have to try the 8900 and 9400 to see if they have the seam bulk issue, if not that would be a strong vote in favor of the newer model.
It would really depend on the price difference, but if I could swing it I would be much more inclined to purchase the 9400.

i have an 8900 and love it.
worth every penny of the the higher price (compared to the 7700.)
the acufeed system on the 8900 is waaaaaaaaaaay superior to the 7700.
the 9400 has a few interesting new features.
but, if it doesn't come with the extension table included i think i'd stick with the 8900.

I had two 7700s. The first one was a total lemon and believe me that is hard to say because I'm a diehard Janome fan. The replacement one was better but still not up to Janome standards
Is you think the low price is the best part of the purchase request to test drive it for a week and use it hard. If you are happy after that, go for it

I was told that the 7700 was good, but that the 8200 and 8900 made noticeable improvements. I bought the 8200 because I didn't need all the extras (including cost). People here advised me to get the machine I really wanted even if it meant waiting . That's what I did. Love my 8200.

I have a 7700 and I love it. I've had her about 18 months and still don't know how to use all the features. I have life time lessons, so I just need to go back to the shop to learn more of the features. This is my 3d Janome machine and they all have been wonderful.
