I love all the ideas here. Another idea I would have , is some "Bird Houses" or some large blue daisies. I also love the colors in your quilt.

Google Images of Jelly Roll Races, and you will find even more fun ideas for using your jelly roll race piece. Have fun!

I would consider a border of one of the fabrics in the quilt but I personally think it is very pretty just as it is.

I would appliqué several different size circles on it. But I like the slice and dice look, too. I agree with you, it is kind of bland, but shouldn't be hard to perk up!

What great ideas to enhance a Jelly Roll Quilt! I like the shortened diagonal cuts as well as the applique, too. Borders do bring it all together and I especially like the ones with the inserted pieces (Baloonatic post). Thanks for asking the question so we got lots of ideas!

Very inspiring how everyone pitched in for some unique ideas on how to jazz up your quilt. How nice of you to do this for your friend.

What color would add a pop? I want it to look nice because it is for a friend who has cancer. She is starting chemo treatments and is cold all the time. She has two blue recliners in her room just the color of the blue in the quilt. Please help.
When I do these quilts, I cut between 13 and 18 inches off one end of the long strip after all pieces have been sewn together. That way, when you are sewing the quilt top it does not result in striped rows. I would add a narrow border of red and then a wider border of a coordinating blue. Your colors are great and your friend is going to love this!!!

It's a very nice project for your friend dealing with cancer. There are some great ideas to perk it up if you think it needs it, but it's really lovely and subtle the way it is.
