For those of you forced to shop on-line, two sites that have first quality fabric
and great prices are "ThousandsofBolts" and "MarshallsDryGoods".
You have to look through the whole site but it is well worth it - most fabrics at 1000s of Bolts... but only one Nut are less than $4/yd.
For excellent fabric and fabric selection at slightly higher prices, I use Connecting Threads; their batiks are less than $6/yd.
Hancocks of Paducah and Stitch-'N-Frame also have great sales; I get much of my fabric from the letter at their Thursday specials.
Also I shop at Fabric.com which has excellent sales and if you spend $35,
shipping is free.Unfortunately it is very ease to spend $35...
Naturally the sale fabrics don't come in complete collections but it might mean that you got the focus fabric at full price, but the coordinates at the sales. This has worked for me since I live on a retirement budget.

Sorry to hear about Katy losing another store. I travel to the one on FM529 and Hwy 6, very nice, clean and the staff is wonderful! There really is one about 10 mins from me but I prefer this one and take the time to make the journey.

We still have a wally world that still has fabric...otherwise, our nearest quilt shop is 27 miles away and very pricey, the other shopping places from an hour and a half to two hours away. Otherwise there is only online for me. The gas versus shipping and handling is debateble these days. HUMMM
Guess one has to shop for everything else....if they have to buy gas for the long haul trip. Can't drive forever just to buy fabric
