In Joan Ford's Cut the Scraps book, she shows a wonderful method for making flying geese. The pattern is for 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 flying geese

Is there a book where she would have measurements on how to use this method to make different sizes of flying geese or is there a formula? I've stayed away from patterns using them but I would definitely try something if I could figure this out in a different size. Trial and error maybe......

Get the wing clipper ruler. It gives you instructions for making them from 1" x 1/2" (finished size) all the way up to 10" x 5" (finished.) The method outlined in the book is not that of the author (Joan Ford) but by Deb Tucker (and she states that in the book). Deb Tucker makes and markets a lot of specialty rulers for commonly used shapes, including the wing clipper. Definitely worth the investment if you make a lot of FG (or want to). The method is practically no waste (you trip down with this method but in some cases you are only taking a small sliver off). I am a big fan of Deb Tuckers Studio 180 specialty rulers. I only have a few but I wouldn't hesitate to buy one for a special project. Edited to add, I found a .pdf file on line of the wing clipper instructions so you can see they tell you how big to cut the squares for each size. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/12...62701526429277

You link does not work anymore. Too many views. I prefer the 1 Seam or 5 Minute Block-i.e. the Flying Geese construction method-anyway. Every other method is too much trouble or work for me at least.

I just made 76 flying geese with Deb Tucker's wing clipper. Totally worth the price of the ruler. You tube video's on line that Deb shows how to use it. All my little points are still there and the geese are flying straight.

Check the Bloc Loc flying geese rulers. They are pricey but totally worth it.
You can make 4 FG at a time using these rulers. They also have a chart.

I made a lot of flying geese nine years ago by instructions in a pattern and had not trouble. No special rulers or tricks.

Here is a wonderful method for 4 (no waste) at a time FG's. Been using it for many, many years with never a fail.
Hint: for the B pieces, make sure you cut using the 7/8" measurement and not round up to 1". No special rulers or tools needed.
