A couple of weeks ago I found a little book called Joy of Quilting by Helen Kelley. Since I had a trip planned I bought it to read on the plane. Yesterday after I got settled in on the plane I took out my little book and started reading. As I read I found myself nodding in agreement, smiling or chuckling in amusement. Before I knew it I'd reached my destination and the plane was landing. So today I wanted to share my find and recommend this book to all my fellow quilters. It addresses many of the topics discussed on this forum from individuality in style/color choices, messy vs. organized quilting spaces, dealing with disasters in a quilt and following or breaking the "rules." This book will make you feel good about your quilts and about yourself as a quilter whether you're a beginner or a long-time quilter. I found my copy at Tuesday Morning. I'm now on the lookout for other books by Helen Kelley.

Helen Kelly wrote a column in Quilters Newsletter, right up until her death.

It used to be one of my favorite parts of the magazine.

I have a trip scheduled in 3 weeks, anticipating layovers so I will keep this in mind! Am planning on bringing some needlepoint to work on. I just googled Helen Kelley, she's very experienced!

Ah-h-h-h, I knew the name sounded familiar. I loved her column, as well.

Thanks for sharing the feedback and title of this book. She has another great book that I have called "Every Quilt Tells a Story." A Quilter's Stash of Wit and Wisdom. I enjoy the way she wrote.
