I have the Brother 1500. The newer Brother 1500 machines I see at the dealers don't look like the original ones made.

I have the Juki2010, the thread cutter in the foot makes all the difference to me. Instead of having a thread trail of about 3 inches, the thread trail is about 1/4 inch. Love it. The speed control is great also. It is nice to have a consistent speed everytime.

Just be sure to test drive them both because it is what you will have to feel comfortable in using it.

I would love the Juki thread cutter in the foot and that alone would be worth the extra cost to me.

As others have mentioned, the speed control on the Juki is wonderful, and it is amazingly simple to set. I, too, would pay the extra to have the foot-controlled cutter--I wouldn't want to be without it again! She makes a beautiful stitch and has sewn well on every type of fabric I have used.
