It would be obvious the dealer lied to you if he did pull up the stitch time and count after telling you there was no way. But it would take a deceitful dealer to do that. Remember it is your machine and if anyone is pushing buttons on it, ask what are you looking for and why. Don't stay back and wonder.

If there is a way to check, I would go back to the dealer and ask him why he said there wasn't a way. And if , as he said there wasn't, what he was checking on the machine. I'd want him to know that I knew how to check it and that I would be finding an honest dealer for future purchases.

Try calling Janome at 1-800-631-0183 and ask for the technical dept. Surely they will be able to help you figure out if the hours and stitches can be found on your machines. I have called them before and they are very helpful.

Here is some info from a Janome forum. I have no idea if shaber20005's info is correct but that might be what the dealer did.

Does anyone know how to check the sew time and/or stitch count on a Janome 12000 and a Janome 8900? My dealer says there isn't a way, but when I was thinking about trading up, he pushed a couple of buttons before coming up with a price. Of course, I was sitting on the other side of the machine and didn't see what he did.
