When I get a quilt back from the LAQ my favorite thing to do is wash it and watch it shrivel up. I love using the cotton batting and getting the old fashioned look of a wrinkled up quilt.

    Just wondering if I'm nuts!

no, you're not nuts. According to my dh, we're all nuts. Cutting 1 big piece of fabric into small pieces, then sewing them back together.LOL

That's exactly what my hubby said when I first got into quilting. He knows better now. LOL
I like to do the same thing with my quilts. I like them washed!

My Hubby said the same thing...
How can you cut up this nice fabric....
Until he saw it put together with other nice fabric and then he said, "Oh, I get it"
Now he says, I can't believe this goes with that!
    And he is color blind!

Yeah, I guess it does sound a little silly to cut it up and sew it back together, but oh what beautiful quilts come from those little pieces of fabrics!

I like the 'shrink' look too!

A friend's husband says that too.... "why cut up perfectly good material and sew it back together".

She replies "why do you cut up pieces of wood and put them back together".

I'm the same way. I love the softer, wrinkled look. If you're crazy, then so am I.

I think it happens more often, Loretta, with the quilts that the fabric or batting isn't pre-washed. Love the old time look!

I love how it looks like has it the "loved" look. I want quilts to be used not looked at.

My uncle is infamous for this!!! And he works with wood. Only when I say that he laughs and says he is making something useful because no one can use a big ol' tree trunk but the fabric is already useful as is. Men!
I like the washing stage too! That's when I feel like it's done!

I need to use this with my hubby!!
My sister doesn't totally get it either. She knits. But she's planning on make quilts for her kids (all 5), but I'm sure she won't cut fabric as small as I do.

My DH asked me what I was going to do with all those rags I bought. I said what rags? He said all those rags you bought yesterday. I bought a bundle of fat quarters. :D :D :D :D

...so hubby just watched a ball game and said something about paying a illion dollars a second for advertising.
I said, "I wish I got paid a million dollars for talking a second."
He said, "you couldn't do it." I said, "do what?"
He said, "just talk for a second."
I said, " I could stop at one second for a million dollars. I'd be out that door and on my way to Joann Fabrics.:
He said, "I'd stop your butt before you got to the steps."
I said, "why? I'd have a million dollars?"
He said cause I'd want my half first. You ain't going to no rag house with a million dollars in your pocket!"
Geesh, you'd think he didn't trust me or something. I'm sure I could get some really great rags with that kind of money!

Why do men hit a little white ball as far as they can and then chase it only to hit it away again?

I love the way they look after washing. It just brings their personality out.
