I guess I'm unusual because I do like to do the binding, making it, mitering corners, sewing it down and hand stitching the back. I know I will have my quilt all done when I finish and I love that feeling. what I dislike are borders and sandwiching the quilt. I find it so hard to manipulate all that fabric.

I don't mind it and as soon as it is quilted I do the binding. I do the hand sewing while watching TV with my DH. A small lap quilt can be done in a quilt of hours, the larger the more time.

I enjoy sewing the binding on my quilts. I wrap the quilt around my lap as I hand sew the binding on the back of the quilt. I think about the person and say a few prayers as I sew. By the time I am finished, I have thoroughly loved and prayed over the quilt. When I give the quilt to family or friends or even keep, the quilt is "stitched with love and bound with prayer," which is what I add to every label.

I currently have 5, yes, 5 quilts that need binding on them. I thought it was just me. I've even considered paying someone to do it for me. Your thoughts?

I like pieced bindings for a lot of the quilts I do--I have found that
the left-over jelly-roll strips (2 1/2" wide) are PERFECT for pieced bindings!

On an average I spend about an hour on each side, on a king it can take up to two hours a side.
Thats what it takes me, two or three evenings.

I think there is something that we don't like to do, but I'd rather quilt than housework.

LIKE!!! (If there were a like button, I'd click it!) Do you whip stitch it or blind stitch it? Thanks, Cheryl :-o
I machine stitch it with my walking foot! It really goes fast and makes it very sturdy!
