Labeling commission quilt and charity quilts
#11
I always ask the buyer if they want a label and what they want it to say....buyer has told me what they want/paying for from the start, no difference now....most times the buyer is giving the quilt as a gift, so the final recipient could care less who made the quilt....I always include washing instructions and a couple color catchers in a ziplock bag pinned to the quilt.

For our local chapter of Project Linus, we do not want labels put on – we add a label that says donated by Project Linus. That is as much identifying info as we want on the quilt. Other chapters maybe different, but that's our policy.

Thanks. Some good ideas. I spoke to my friend today and she wants my name on it, along with quilt name, which we decided together, made for name of baby, gift from her and hubby. Thinking I may make a strip label to go along the bottom instead of the patch type, so it's not too prominent.

If you donate to an organization, they most likely have guidelines. I donate to my guild and the ladies put a standard label on the quilts.
As for the commissioned quilt: I'd have the client tell you what should go on the label.
