Lamp Question ???

I have a floor lamp that I bought at Goodwill for 5 dollars about 15 years ago. It takes a four inch long bulb and has an adjustable head so I can move it to accommodate changing light as the day wears on. I don't care for the table lamps or clip ons around my machine. They seem to always be in the way.

I use the one that attaches to the machine and is bendable. It's great. The other one I have found is a light by Robo Whittler,LLC. I've tried it at our local shop and it's really fantastic..bright, with storage too. It's on line but a little pricy..$200, so I'm saving up.

hershnerr's has a floorlamp i got from my mother for christmas one year... uses ott type bulbs, but only cost 49.99...mom got me extra bulbs, and i have yet to change one 4 1/2 yrs later... and this thing is on every day!

Go online and look for full-spectrum lights. There are very expensive ones but I settled for the HP brand and bought two for less than the price of one of the Ott Lights, or other major brands and they are still working just fine. The full-spectrum lighting is whiter than regular light bulbs and simulates natural light. Check them all out. My two lamp stands (not table top stands) were under $100 and it included light element replacements for each as well that I have not used yet. I have seen them in sewing magazines for less than $40 each as well. Hunt until you find a good buy.

I have two matching OttLights, one table-style for my sewing cabinet and a floor-style that I usually keep at my MQ frame. They both swivel and adjust up and down. They are pricey but I got mine on sale at Office Depot. Office stores have lots of goodies for quilters!

I ordered an Ott light from Joann's about 2 weeks ago during their 50% off sale. Then I get an email about a week later that it was canceled because it was out of stock. I was very disappointed, and may have to wait for them to go on sale again. I just bought a full spectrum natural light at Walmart for $20. Don't know if I like it or not, I don't have anything to compare it too??????

I was really having trouble finding a Ott lamp (or something similar) that was the right size and style for where I wanted it.
I found my solution buy buying a light bulb -- Ott manufactures a light bulb with a standard screw style end. These light bulbs are not cheap (regular price ~$10 at Joann's), but can be used in any lamp.
I am really pleased with these light bulbs, and no longer have to give up style for function. Plus the total price was less than a sale priced Ott lite.
