I have a nurse friend who quilts about 30 quilts a month for terminally ill patients in the hospital (Passage Quilts). She tells us the best size for the hospital beds are 45 x 60.

What a wonderful sister! Make sure that the quilt is very well labeled so it doesn't go astray in the hospital. You can make a label that says "things have sure changed since that house fell on my sister..." ;-)

Same here. And my thought is better to err on the larger side. I hate blankets/quilts that are too narrow/short (& considering i"m 5" tall, that's saying something... LOL!).
